According to a Swiss study, guests who stay in a hotel on holiday spend on average half of their time there. The survey was conducted by Ipsos Switzerland on behalf of Switzerland Tourism (ST) and HotellerieSuisse. Leisure travellers in Switzerland from Germany, the UK and France were surveyed.
According to the study, Swiss and German hotel guests spend a particularly long time in hotels in Switzerland. They stay longer than French and British tourists. According to the statistics, Swiss tourists go to bed the earliest and sleep the longest. Of all the source markets analysed, they spend the longest average time in a hotel at just under 13 hours. They are followed by the Germans with 12 hours, while French and British guests spend the most time out of the hotel in the evening.
At the same time, British guests spend more time in the hotel during the day than other nations. They make use of food and beverage, wellness, relaxation and sports facilities, especially in luxury hotels. Swiss, German and French travellers, on the other hand, spend more time out of the hotel during the day.
Serviced Apartments in Switzerland
When choosing accommodation, German leisure travellers say that it is as important to them as the destination itself. This means that accommodation is more important to them than to guests from the other countries surveyed. However, the vast majority (73 per cent) agree with the statement: 'If the accommodation is good, the holiday is good'.
